How can Compare Care help?
Our Nurse Navigators help members find lower-cost options for outpatient tests and procedures that your doctor orders for you. Our nurses will compare prices at facilities that are convenient for you. If you choose to use one of those lower-cost providers, you will be eligible for a reward equal to 20% of the savings and your Nurse Navigator will assist with getting your appointment rescheduled for you. Not sure if your procedure is something we can help with? Give us a call... Our Nurse Navigators are here to answer any questions you may have.
What are your hours and how do I contact you?
Our Nurse Navigators are available by phone Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-6:00 pm at (603) 607-7879. If you call after hours, please leave a message and a nurse will call you back the next business day. You can also reach us by email at info@harlowehealth.com, by live chat via the link found on our website, or on our mobile app.
What are the rewards all about?
If you choose a lower-cost provider, you will be eligible for a reward equal to 20% of the savings. If you are already using a low-cost provider, you will be eligible for a $10.00 reward. You can also receive a $10 reward for calling our Nurse Navigators to register for the program.
Are all my family members eligible for the program?
All dependents on the subscriber’s plan are eligible for the program.
What happens if I do not choose a lower-cost facility?
Compare Care is a voluntary program. We are here to give you options and help you lower your out-of-pocket costs, but it is your decision where you choose to receive your care.
How do I go about letting my doctor know I want to switch to a different facility?
The nurse you speak with can assist you with all of this. We will coordinate the rescheduling with the ordering doctor’s office and the new facility and assist with updating prior authorizations if one is needed. If you prefer to call the ordering provider’s office yourself, we will provide you with the necessary information to give them.
I had my test/procedure done last week and forgot to call. Does it still qualify for a reward?
No, you need to call our service before you have the test/procedure so that we can confirm you are at a low-cost provider or so that we can provide you with lower-cost options.
Will a Nurse Navigator contact me first, if I have an eligible service requiring a Prior Authorization?
Yes, this can occur when your physician requires a Prior Authorization from Harvard Pilgrim. If your Prior Authorization procedure is eligible, a Nurse Navigator will reach out to you to let you know you could go to a lower-cost provider, create savings, and earn a reward.
I need a new PCP or specialist. Can you recommend one in my area who is in my network?
We do not make recommendations for PCPs or specialists. Your insurance company’s Member Services can assist you in finding in-network providers.
Will my doctor still get the results if I go to a facility not affiliated with their office?
Yes, the facility where you have your test/procedure will forward the results to the ordering provider’s office. If it is an MRI or CT scan, the new facility can give you a CD of the MRI/CT scan to give to your doctor as well. The nurse you speak with can assist you with all of this. We will coordinate the rescheduling with the ordering doctor’s office and the new facility and assist with updating prior authorizations if one is needed. If you prefer to call the ordering provider’s office yourself, we will provide you with the necessary information to give them.
Why do the costs for my test/procedure vary so much?
Typically, a free-standing facility is less expensive than a hospital as they do not have the same overhead costs that the hospitals do. Pricing is based on the contract your insurance company has with each facility.
Is the reason these facilities are so much lower-cost because the quality is less?
The cost has nothing to do with quality. Typically, a free-standing facility is less expensive than a hospital as they do not have the overhead costs the hospitals do. Pricing is based on the contract your insurance company has with each facility.
How long will it take for me to receive my reward?
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care sends us an update every month. Once we receive confirmation that the bill for your outpatient test/procedure was processed, you will receive your reward. It typically takes 30-45 days after you have received your Activity Summary/EOB and is also dependent on how quickly the facility submits the billing.
Is the reward taxable?
Our reward is a reduction of your costs or a rebate. The Internal Revenue Service and your state taxing authority may deem these rewards taxable income. We cannot know your individual tax situation nor provide tax advice. NHIT and Harlowe are not responsible for determining whether you need to include the value of the rewards as additional income when preparing your tax returns. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to see whether this payment is taxable.
